Loving Our Neighbour: Discernment – Linda Mulhall

Loving Our Neighbour: Discernment – Linda Mulhall

Sunday, November 18, 2018

Theme: Discernment
Scripture: Psalm 140
Liturgy: Rev. Beth Walker
Sunday Message: Linda Mulhall

“The place that calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s hunger meet.” – Frederick Buechner, theologian. What brings us deep gladness? Where and when do we feel deeply connected with life? And when we think of the world’s hunger – physically and spiritually – what draws us? Can we discern where we are being called in isolation from others, from the needs of the world? How can we freely choose to follow this call, not acting from fear, shame, guilt or “I should…”? Discernment – listening for and following our call – is best practiced from that place of knowing that we are already unconditionally loved, just as we are.
